Alfred Msadala, a poet, short story writer and critic from Malawi, launched War Drums Are Beating; discourses off the anthill at the Blantyre Sports Club in the nations capital on Thursday evening.
Msadala is the President of the Book Publishers Association of Malawi as well as the chair of the Board of Trustees of Blantyre Arts Festival. He is also the President of Malawi PEN, the national centre of PEN International.
He runs the Literary Talk column in The Sunday Times, is an anchor for the Writer’s Corner Programme on MBC Radio 1 and the founding editor of Business and Technology Today, Malawi’s e-business magazine. He has also read and performed poetry at various festivals in Malawi; and in Mexico City, Accra, Lusaka, Nairobi, Bled, Harare, and London.
His new book War Drums Are Beating is a non-fiction offering that chronicles writers and media personalities who have impacted Malawi including Africa39 writer Shadreck Chikoti. The guest of honor was writer and publisher, Dr James Ng’ombe.
