Writing Africa: Archiving African and Black Literature

The South African Book Fair 2015 will be happening from in Johannesburg

South African Book Fair 2015 is here

The South African Book Fair 2015 will be happening from tomorrow 31st July until August 2nd at the Turbine Hall, Newtown, Johannesburg.

The theme for this year’s fair is #DiscoverYourBookself as the organisers believe that the books we read shape us and they are certain you’ll find your ‘bookshelf’ here.

So what will the plan be? Well, there will be 100 authors participating in more than 40 events, 44 new small publishers, 7 publishers from across the continent, a dedicated Kid’s Zone, and a whole day devoted to learners, teachers, and librarians. The list of authors on offer to the public is quite good. Sample these few names… Pumla Dineo Gqola, Khaya Dlanga, Lauren Beukes, Niq Mholongo, Ndumiso Ngobo, Finuala Dowling, Siphiwo Mahala and many more.

If you are in Johannesburg this weekend and you fail to show up to at least a couple of events you seriously need to be arrested and bad things done to you. Like I don’t know, you should be forced to listen to President Obama’s sad lecture to the AU on a loop for a week. That’ll teach you.
