The Kweli International Literary Festival 2025 will be held in New York City, USA, from October 18 – November 18, 2025.
Kweli was founded under the direction of editor Laura Pegram to nurture emerging US Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC) writers who “sing the truth” in 2009. It invests in the artistic and professional growth of emerging authors with a quarterly online literary journal, year-long writer fellowships, multi-session workshops, writing retreats, and individualized editing.
For 2025, the Kweli International Literary Festival, first held in 2012, has adopted a new format, a new partner, and a new home in Tribeca: New York Law School. It will feature virtual and in-person readings and conversations with debut and award-winning BIPOC writers, craft talks, workshops, and much more, as well as the year’s best opportunity to connect with agents, editors, and fellow creatives of color during the opening weekend. Other aspects will include keynote speakers, a menu of films, in-depth craft talks, workshops, and panels covering the Novel, Essay, Memoir, Short Story, Poem, as well as the business of publishing.
Some of the featured guests will be Dinaw Mengestu, Aaliyah Bilal, Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, Megha Majumdar, Sarah Aziza, Edwidge Danticat, Yohanca Delgado, Nicole Dennis-Benn, Xochitl Gonzalez, and Martha S. Jones, among others.
