Abdourahman Waberi is set to do events at the Alliance Française centres in Mombasa and Nairobi on March 7 and March 10, 2023.
Djibouti-born USA-based novelist, essayist, poet, and short-story writer Abdourahman Waberi has published several books of fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. He has received many awards and fellowships throughout his career. Some of his publications written primarily in French include Le Pays Sans Ombre (“The Land Without Shadow”) (1994), L’oeil nomade (“Nomad’s Eye”) (1997), Balbala (1998), Cahier Nomade (“Nomad’s Book”), (1999), Les Nomades, mes frères vont boire à, la Grande Ourse (“The Nomads: My brothers go drinking in the Big Dipper”) (2000), Rift, routes, rails (“Rifts, Roads and Rails”) (2001), Transit (2003), Moisson de crânes (Harvest of Skulls) (2004), Aux Etats Unis d’Afrique (“In the United States of Africa”) (2006), Passage des larmes (“Trail of Tears”) (2009), and Dis-moi pour qui j’existe ? (2022). Many of these have been translated in many languages, including English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian.
This week, people in Mombasa and Nairobi will get the chance to meet the celebrated author at the Alliance Française centres in their areas. Here are the details;

March 11: Movie Screening of Africa Paradis

Time: 6 pm
Description: The screening will be followed by a discussion with Abdourahman A. Waberi based on his novel ‘Aux Etats-Unis d’Afrique’ (In the United States of Africa) which echoes the subject of the satirical film.
