The guest list for the Ake Arts & Book Festival 2021, including headliner Abdulrazak Gurnah, features some of the leading names in African literature. The festival runs virtually from its Lagos, Nigeria base from October 28-30, 2021.
The Ake Arts & Book Festival, popularly known as the Ake Festival, has been running in Nigeria since 2012. Lovers of books and the arts attend book readings, panel discussions, poetry recitals, film screenings, theatre and music performances and lots more over the week of the festival. The festival theme for 2021 is “Generational Discordance” and the dates to be October 28-30.
Abdulrazak Gurnah, revealed to be the Nobel Prize 2021 winner yesterday, is festival headliner and will participate in the Lives and Times Series event with Maaza Mengiste, and grace the cover of The Ake Review where he will give an in-depth interview for its centre spread. He will be joined by over 80 writers, thinkers, artists, poets and filmmakers from all over Africa and the global Diaspora. It is sponsored by Sterling Bank, one of West Africa’s leading financial institutions.
