Abu Sherif Poetry Prize 2024 shortlist announced.

The six shortlisted writers in the running for the Abu Sherif Poetry Prize 2024 were announced on Thursday, April 25, 2024.

The Abu Sherif Poetry Prize is named in honour of Abu Sherif, a prolific Liberian poet who lost his life to sickle cell. It is open only to Liberians between the ages of 17 and 35. The award is a project of Pepper Coast Lit magazine founded by Jeremy Teddy Karn and Ayouba Toure which has been producing an excellent literary magazine.  

Those who are in the running of the awards announced on Thursday are;

  • Angel Togba, Emmanuel GG Bamba
  • In April, Suffering Was Made in Liberia, Edwin Olu Bestman
  • Memories of Some Broken Marks, Sunny Eddie Crawford
  • Sometimes, I Pray for Death, Joshua Smith
  • The Rebirth of Pain, Benyeakeh Miapeh
  • Chronicles on the Symphony of Suffering, Arthur Shedrick Davies
