Accra International Book Festival Awards 2018 shortlist announced.

The Accra International Book Festival Awards 2018 shortlists were announced on December 27, 2018. The awards are the First Book Award and Independent Writers Award.

The Accra International Book Festival Awards are open to writers of any nationality writing in English and French and whose work can reshape the world. The shortlist announced this year features the work of four women and a man, covering fiction, poetry, and non-fiction. It was selected by a three-member panel of judges with wide experience in writing, editing, culture, and journalism.

Those on the shortlist are;

First Book Award Author

  • Haiku Rhapsodies (Verses from Ghana) by Celestine Nudanu (Ghana)
  • Book of Addis: Cradled Embers by Brooke C. Obie (USA)

Independent Writers Award Author

  • The Hundred Wells of Salaga by Ayesha Harunna Attah (Ghana)
  • In the Middle of Nowhere by Ruby Yahyra Goka (Ghana)
  • Dynamics of Persistent Underdevelopment: The Case of Ghana by Dr Matthew Karikari-Ababio (Ghana)
  • Book of Addis: Cradled Embers by Brooke C. Obie (USA).
  • Perfectly Imperfect by Ruby Yahyra Goka (Ghana)

The winner for both categories are set to be announced on Monday 31 December 2018 with an award ceremony in 2019.
