Africa Writes Exeter runs in the UK town of Exeter from June 17-19, 2022.
The Africa Writes literary festival, an initiative of the UK’s Royal African Society, started with events in London in 2012. Since then, it has gone on to become the UK’s leading platform for curating the best contemporary African and African diaspora writing.
A version of the festival will be hosted in the town of Exeter as part of that its UNESCO City of Literature programme for three days starting today. It will be celebrating contemporary literature and thought from Africa and the African diaspora with a series of book launches, conversations, performances, and workshops online and in Exeter.
Some of the those who will feature will be Yewande Omotoso, Okwiri Oduor, Kadija Sesay George, Nii Ayikwei Parkes, Tjawangwa Dema, Zakiya McKenzie, Irenosen Okojie, Billy Kahora, among others.
