The African Festival of Emerging Writers 2024 runs in Yaoundé and Bafia, Cameroon from February 7 – 9, 2024. The festival theme is “Paths of Freedom.”
Clijec Mag is a literary magazine devoted to the analysis and exploration of the African literary landscape founded in 2015. The organisation started hosting the African Festival of Emerging Writers where writers and poets would meet with readers over a few days annually.
The 2024 edition of the festival is set to happen in the two towns of Yaoundé and Bafia with lectures, keynotes, workshops, panels, visits to schools, and a lot more. This year, the festival will be giving a tribute to Malian anti-colonialist and writer Aoua Keita. The Malian who died in 1980 was the author of Femme d’Afrique. La vie d’Aoua Kéita racontée par elle-même (An African Woman. The Autobiography of Aoua Kéita told in her own words). Paris: Présence Africaine, 1975. Other tributes will also be made for Werewere Liking, Edouard Glissant, Therese Kuoh-Moukoury, and Kemadjou Njanke M.
Apart from tributes to literary legends, there will be Bertile Mbaga, Djimeli Raoul, Nnane Ntube, Nadine Mekougoum, Michel Dongmo Evina, Karolyne Koukap, Kelly Yemdji, and others.
