Afritondo Short Story Prize 2020 shortlist announced.

The shortlist for the Afritondo Short Story Prize 2020 was announced on Friday, March 6, 2020.

Afritondo is a platform that aims to connect with and tell the stories of African and black minority populations across the globe. They made a call out for submissions of short stories for their new award the Afritondo Short Story Prize judged by Megan Ross (Chair), Gloria Mwaniga, and Kelechi Njoku.

For the first edition of the prize, there were 421 entries from 19 countries from across the continent. The team announced the longlist of twenty one outstanding entries gotten with the help of a team of readers for the award.

The shortlist for the prize was revealed by the judges this past Friday. Its chair Megan Ross, said about the shortlist and the selection process: “It was such a privilege to read the longlist. So, thank you to those writers for entering their stories. Every story was competing against incredibly high standards. Every story was a pleasure to read, and getting to the shortlist was a very difficult job. We were constantly impressed by the talent and the voices and the energy that was coming through the stories. It’s going to be an even more difficult task trying to find a winner now.”

  • [Unknown] and wife – Kojo Obeng-Andoh (Ghana)

The winner will be announced on Friday, March 27, 2020.
