Afrolit Sans Frontières, the virtual literary festival for writers of African origin, has announced that they will run an African languages festival from October 26 – November 2, 2020.
Afrolit Sans Frontières, a virtual literary festival for writers of African origin, was founded by author and publisher Zukiswa Wanner as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic international lockdowns. The festival format is two sessions a day on Instagram Live with an artist moderated by a host who also fields questions from audience members. There have been five editions; Season 1 from March 23-30; Season 2 from April 20-27; Season 3 from May 25 – June 1; Season 4 from June 29-July 6; and Season 5 from July 27 – August 3.
The festival has hosted many writers from across Africa and the diaspora producing work in English, French, and Portuguese.
The festival director Zukiswa Wanner today announced that there will be a new run of Afrolit Sans Frontières which will focus on African languages. Writers who produce work in languages like Kiswahili, Hausa, Yoruba, Shona, and more will be front and centre as they talk about their work over the duration of the festival.
Details on the guest authors for this run of the festival shall be announced in due course.
