The 2020 edition will be streaming online for free from venues on channels designated as the Global and Local Channel for a 24 hour period. One of the highlights of the Global Stream will be legendary activist, writer, and academic Angela Davis engaging Jude Kelly on a raft of topics from Black Lives Matter to the potential ramifications the pandemic poses to the fight for gender equality. Other speakers taking part in the Global Stream are Zukiswa Wanner, Fatima Ibrahim, Hannah Azieb Pool, Mikki Kendall, Nobel Prize Laureate in Literature 2015 Svetlana Alexievich, Selina Nwulu, and Minna Salami. This panel seeks to follow the journey of the women’s rights movement in Africa and determine what more must be done to achieve the feminist vision in Africa. There will also be a panel exploring sex and gender violence moderated by Aisha Saludeen, and performances from poet Wana Udobang and Nigerian singer and guitarist Temmie Ovwasa.
