Asmara-Addis Literary Festival (In Exile) 2024 starts November 29

Asmara-Addis Literary Festival (In Exile) 2024 will be held in Brussels, Belgium from November 29 – 30, 2024.

The Asmara-Addis Literary Festival (In Exile), founded by novelist Sulaiman Addonia, was first hosted in the Belgian city of Brussels in 2019. The festival which included readings, panel discussions, book chats, and other activities ran again in 2020 and 2022. Some of the leading names in African letters like Maaza Mengiste, Nadifa Mohamed, Chike Frankie Edozien, Ellah Wakatama Allfrey, Molara Wood, Hannah Azieb Pool, Amina Jama, and Kalaf Epalanga have been its guests.

The 2024 edition of the festival returns at the end of the month in its traditional home of Brussels. The event will be attended by writers, poets, painters, musicians, dancers, performers, actors, and thinkers from over 30 countries performing in many languages. These extraordinary artists include Adem Ouhaibia, Samy Meziani, Siska Baeck, Maren Moreau, Saleh Addonia, Astrid Haerens, Ubah Cristina Ali Farah, Grazyna Plebanek, Simone Basani, Sadrie Alves, Lara Muslera, Fatena Al Ghorra, Al Tayeb Al Ahmar, LU BI, Mehdi Mousav, Hana Al-Khamri, Ahmed Saleh, Tuly Salumu, Jeremie Nehemie, Nefer Ferreira Monteiro Nunes, Lucy Roeber, Loucka Fiagan, Stine Sampers, Adéọlá Naomi Adérè̩mí, Leon Sofie Verraest, Alara Adilow, Nina Van Denbempt, Angel Patricks Amegbe, Aminata Demba, Ermias Kifleyesus, Haetal Chung, Ligia Mateiu, Gizem Özbek, Eliane Manquoi, Linda Mark, Emerald Liu, and Julia Galaski.
