The Audie Awards 2025 winners were announced in New York, USA on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. Here are the writers of African descent who won in their categories.

The Audie Awards have been awarded annually by the American Audio Publishers Association for audiobooks and spoken-word entertainment since 1996. The awards are given to types of writing, including abridged and unabridged fiction and non-fiction, and such genres as romance, fantasy and mystery; other awards recognize excellence in different styles of narration and production, such as multi-voiced performance and production values.

The winners for 2025 were announced in a gala in New York City on Tuesday, March 4. Here are the writers of African descent who won in their categories;

Middle Grade Winner

  • Black Star (Audio), Kwame Alexander, Narrated by Angel Pean, Nile Bullock, Karen Chilton, Aaron Goodson, Dominic Hoffman Published by Hachette Audio

Narrative by the Author(s) Winner

  • Bits and Pieces (Audio), Written and narrated by Whoopi Goldberg, Published by Blackstone Publishing

Nonfiction Winner

  • There’s Always This Year (Audio), Written and narrated by Hanif Abdurraqib, Published by Penguin Random House Audio

Romance Winner
