Ayesha Harruna Attah wrapped up day two of Season 3 of Afrolit Sans Frontières from Dakar, Senegal on May 26, 2020. She was hosted by Bisi Adjapon.
Afrolit Sans Frontières, a virtual literary festival for writers of African origin, started as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic international lockdown in March. It has had two iterations with Season 1 curated by festival founder Zukiswa Wanner in March and Season 2 co-curated with Maaza Mengiste and the founder in April. Season 3, with curation by Mohale Mashigo and Zukiswa Wanner, features 16 writers from 13 countries streaming from 15 cities in English, French, and Portuguese. All sessions run on the official Afrolit Sans Frontières Instagram page from May 25 to June 1.
The festival kicked off on May 25 with Dilman Dila streaming from Kampala, Uganda followed by Tochi Onyebuchi in New York, USA. The second day of the festival, May 26, started with Vamba Sherif streaming from Amsterdam, Holland before ending with Ayesha Harruna Attah from Dakar, Senegal. Attah has written the Commonwealth Writers Prize-nominated Harmattan Rain, Saturdays Shadows, and The Hundred Wells of Salaga, currently translated into four languages. The Deep Blue Between, forthcoming October 2020, will be her first book for teen readers.

The Ghanaian started by inviting her host Bisi Adjapon to her event where she read from her current novel The Hundred Wells of Salaga. With her having read from the book which focuses on intra-African slave trade in West Africa, we were then given a masterclass on the region that the novel was based in. We learnt about how Salaga, a bustling metropolis in pre-colonial West Africa, was crushed by the colonialists and a lot more over the time of the live.
