Black British Book Festival 2024 guests known

The guests featuring at the Black British Book Festival 2024, including festival headliner Eve, which runs on October 5, 2004, are now known.

The Black British Book Festival, celebrating and highlighting black authors across all genres of literature in the United Kingdom, has hosted some of the leading names in the publishing ecosystem in the UK. It has featured book launches and readings, panel discussions, poetry readings, masterclasses, workshops, and loads more. It was first hosted in 2021 followed by editions in 2022 and 2023.

The 2024 edition, with Pan Macmillan as headline sponsor, will be hosted at the Barbican Centre in London on October 5. The guests at the one-day affair include festival headliner Grammy-winning rapper Eve, whose full name we learn is Eve Jihan Cooper. In a blatant move to push bums to seats, the US American will be front and centre speaking about her newly published memoir Who’s That Girl?: A Memoir.

There are other non-hip-hop-related acts on offer like Diane Abbott who will discuss her experiences in a panel titled A Woman Like Me, while journalist and presenter Charlene White will lead an insightful session. Big Manny will deliver an exciting talk, Science is Lit, and activists Mikaela Loach, Tayshan Hayden Smith and Kwajo Tweneboa will explore important social issues. Also featuring will be Zeinab Badawi, Shani Akilah, Sarah Gwonyoma, Ayaan Mohamud, Kimberley Kinloch, Alex Falase-Koya, Robin Walker, Emmanuel Asuquo, Kevin Morosky, Natalie and Naomi Evans, Joelle Avelino, Mikaela Loach, Franklin Asante, Bola Sol, Abi Date, Paul Brunson, Caleb Femi, Abiola Bello, and many others.

Pan Macmillan is the headline sponsor but such a huge undertaking always needs more support. Other sponsors are Audible, Hachette, International Literary Properties, IngramSpark, Ink Sweat Tears, Kindle Direct Publishing, National Book Tokens, Penguin Random House, and Simon & Schuster.

If you are in London, please pencil in October 5 to enjoy some of the best in the Black British Publishing industry at the Barbican Centre. You can find all the information on the schedule for the day here.
