Festa Literária Das Periferias 2024 with the theme “The skirt goes around, life goes around” in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from November 11 – 17, 2024.
Festa Literária Das Periferias (English: Literary Festival of the Peripheries) is the literary festival of the favelas in Rio de Janeiro. The first edition took place in 2012, in Morro dos Prazeres, a favela in the central region of Rio de Janeiro. Since then, it has been held in Vigário Geral, Mangueira, Babilônia (2015 and 2021), Cidade de Deus, and Vidigal, as well as in a region of Rio known as Little Africa (2019 and 2022).
The 2024 edition has the theme “Roda a saia, gira a vida” (The skirt goes around, life goes around) and this will be reflected in the program which will have 90%, black women. It will pay tribute to historian, poet, and filmmaker Maria Beatriz Nascimento (1942-1995) for her artistic legacy.
