Brittle Paper’s 100 Notable African Books of 2024 was unveiled to the public on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.
Brittle Paper was started by Nigerian-born USA-based academic Ainehi Edoro-Glines as a new voice in an African literary space starting to show itself on the world stage in 2010. The publication now shines a light on what is happening in African literature and publishes some of the most exciting writing coming from the continent.
In 2018, the publication announced its 100 African Notable Books allowing readers to see some of the most exciting publications from this rock that we live on. One of the most anticipated lists in world literature, the sixth edition was announced by the publication on Tuesday.
The books show the breadth of writing mainly in English by African writers on the continent or in the diaspora. The writers come from Algeria, Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Congo DR, Congo Republic, Egypt, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Sudan, Sierra Leone, South Africa, the United Kingdom, the United States, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. There are eight anthologies and single-writer texts (the rest) in poetry, nonfiction, and prose (literary fiction, genre fiction, speculative fiction).
