Festival International le Souffle de l’Harmattan 2023 will be hosted in N’djamena, Chad from October 10 – 14, 2023. The festival theme is “Witnesses to history, breath of victory.”
Festival International le Souffle de l’Harmattan (English: Breath of the Harmattan) was founded by Mbernodji Sosthène in 2014. Sosthène is the executive secretary of the Association of Chadian Writers and Authors of French Expression (Aset). The “International Festival of Writing, Writers, and Thought” is a place where writers express themselves to encourage other voices and the emergence of other talents. Over the last few years, the central African country’s capital city has been hosting reading sessions, book presentations and author signings; photo exhibitions, excursions, and awarding of distinctions to writers.
In a press conference in September organisers, led by Dr Patrick Clement Oyieh, revealed that the happenings in N’djamena will take place on the campus of Emi Koussi University in N’Djamena and will close at CEFOD this year. They will host renowned linguists, artists, writers, and thinkers from Senegal, Guinea, Burkina Faso, Mali, Cameroon, France, and Canada. Some of these are Methoné Kyanginbo Eraste (Chad), Kouevi Dédé Rose Gloria (Burkina Faso), Dr Ahmad Daoud Chari Ouda (Chad), Bayemek Non Emmanuel (Cameroon), Maître Doudjimsengar Tatolngar (Chad), Lucien Hervé Ehini (Cameroon), Adama Ramou (Chad), Marie Bertille Mawem (Cameroon), Abel Ndjerareou (Chad), and Sem Miantoloum Beasnael (Chad).
