A few months ago I spoke about the Edgar Allan Poe Awards (popularly called the Edgars), named after Edgar Allan Poe, which are presented every year by the Mystery Writers of America, based in New York City, USA. They honor the best in mystery fiction, non-fiction, television, film, and theater published or produced in the previous year.
This year Nigerian-born author Chris Abani was in the running for the Best Paperback Original for his novel The Secret History of Las Vegas. He was in the running alongside Alison Gaylin for Stay With Me, William Lashner for The Barkeep, Catriona McPherson for The Day She Died, Lisa Turner for The Gone Dead Train, and Ben H. Winters for World of Trouble.

Chris Abani is the winner in the Best Paperback Original category. Can I get a aaa huu?!! That’s what I’m talking about.
