Martin Egblewogbe moderates Dami Ajayi

Dami Ajayi’s Ghanaian adventure

Dami Ajayi is a very special fellow. By day he is known as Dr Ajayi the trainee psychiatrist who ensures that patients get the best mental care that a doctor can give. By night, however, this Nigerian man turns into Dami Ajayi, poet, literary magazine founder, and editor.

His poetry collection Clinical Blues is one of the most well-received books from an African in recent times. Then there is Saraba magazine that journal that he founded with his friend Emmanuel Iduma one of the leading ones on the continent right now.

Our Mr Ajayi wowed many Nairobians at the recently ended Storymoja Festival including an event on the breakfast show on KBC TV. Turns out that his Kenyan journey was part of a two-country tour before he settled back into his Dr Ajayi mode back in Nigeria. He was the speaker at a reading that was done at the Vidya Bookstore on 12th September 2015 moderated by Martin Egblewogbe. The event was put together by Zaria Horizons in conjunction with Writers Project Ghana.

With that well-attended gig over he was hosted to an interview on Citi F.M on the next day before showing up in Nairobi on the next week. Here are a few images from the poet doctor from his gig there.
