The Days of African Literature Festival with the theme is “Language crosses borders” runs in Graz, Austria from June 14 – 15, 2024.
The Chiala Association for the promotion of culture, development, and diversity was founded in February 2012 as the successor to the Africa Center Chiala’Afriqas which ran from 2003 – 2011. They run many activities including social counselling, courses in German, and events like the CHIALA Africa Festival which was hosted in 2022.
In June, they will host its “Days of African Literature Festival” with the theme “Language crosses borders” focusing on Translation at Kulturzentrum der Minoriten Graz. Some of the activities will be readings from the authors, that will be translated for the audience, panel di discussions as well as a translating/interpreting workshop done by Ida Hadjivayanis, and a kindergarten reading by Zina Eberlein. Translation will be done by Julia Kölbl while Ninja Reichert will be reading the German texts.
Some of the featured guests curated by Rémi Armand Tchokothe are Babeth Fonchie Fotchind, Ernis, Andrea Färber, Ida Hadjivayanis, Max Lobe, Niq Mhlongo, Sami Tchak, Tete Loeper, and Zina Eberlein.
