Writing Africa: Archiving African and Black Literature

The Daystar Creatives last hurrah in 2014.

Daystar Creatives Academy 2015 is coming

The Creatives Academy is one of the coolest events for the Kenyan creative in 2014. The academy had students of Daystar University get to meet up with writers, media personalities, bloggers, publishers, and editors for several weeks. Some of the names that came through to mentor the Daystarians include Kinyanjui Kombani, Yvonne Odhiambo Awuor, Binyavanga Wainaina, Ng’ang’a Mbugua, John Sibi-Okumu, Peter Crompton.

The idea of this multi-week event was that the students would be able to understand how to get their creative career on track from writing the book to marketing to branding and everything else that they would encounter as they came to the big bad world. Lucky kids. If I had someone to guide me in my writing career can you imagine where I would be now?

Anyway, the 2015 edition of the Daystar Creatives Academy will officially kick off on January 24th, 2015. Our good friends from Daystar have invited both Daystar Students and members of the public to come and network. No word on the type of beverages that will be on offer.

If you feel you want to be part of this event either as a participant, sponsor, or even mentor then I suggest you go to this page. There you will find opportunities if you want to sponsor the event. The beauty about sponsoring literature-type events is you are never forgotten forever and ever. So go for it eh?
