Nigerian writer and lawyer Dele Ogun will be launching his book, A Fatherless People: The Secret Story of How the Nigerians Missed the Road to the Promised Land in Lagos, Nigeria on June 12th, 2018.
Dele Ogun is a Nigerian intellectual, lawyer, and author who obtained his law degrees in the UK. He founded his own law firm, London-based Akin Palmer LLP, where he has served for over 21 years and also has a practice in Lagos, Nigeria.
Apart from being a lawyer, Ogun dabbles in the written word having started with his 2009 autobiography, The Law, The Lawyers and The Lawless followed in 2010 by Ostrich Nation: Golden Jubilee!
His recent book A Fatherless People: The Secret Story of How the Nigerians Missed the Road to the Promised Land gives a detailed history of Nigerian leadership, from the earliest days of British Colonialism to the present. It follows how Nigeria became one nation to the outside world, though internally riven with strife among its multitudinous ethnic groups–the main of which are the Igbos, the Hausas and the Yorubas. It outlines in graphic detail how the colonial British rulers played a duplicitous role, not keeping promises made, and pitting one ethnic group and one region against another.
The book which is available on Amazon has already been warmly received in the UK where its writer lives. The book kicked off with a London tour starting on December 3, 2017 and went on to different venues in the capital city of the former colonial power.
Africa will get their turn in June as the author lands in Nigeria and does a multiple city tour that includes Lagos, Abuja and Enugu. You can get details of his tour on the poster below.
