Diadié Dembélé wins Prix CEQF La Francophonie en débat 2025

Diadié Dembélé’s novel Deux grands hommes et demi won Prix CEQF La Francophonie en débat on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.

La Francophonie en débat (English: Swiss Center for Studies on Quebec and the Francophone World “Francophonie in Debate” Prize) aims to support the production and dissemination of artistic or academic works in French by young artists or young researchers residing in an International Organization of La Francophonie member or observer country. The work awarded must help to think about and illustrate the relationships, exchanges, and interactions within the French-speaking world on a cultural, historical, economic, or social level. The work, guided by a research-creation approach, may be an unprecedented research in human and social sciences or an original artistic creation. The award, handed out every two year,s is funded by the Swiss watchmaking company Richard Mille and organized by the CEQF.

The international jury of Prix CEQF La Francophonie en débat awarded Diadié Dembélé for his novel Deux grands hommes et demi (English: Two and a Half Great Men) the 2025 award. They said of the work, “Through his striking writing, the Franco-Malian author explores migratory trajectories, family memory, and transmission in the French-speaking world.”

Diadié Dembélé receives the 15,000 Swiss francs cash prize, which includes 5,000 francs intended for presenting the prize in Quebec at the time of the official presentation.
