The Doek Literary Festival 2022, the inaugural edition, is set to run in Windhoek, Namibia from April 21-23, 2022.
In the last couple of years, Namibia has been coming to the fore of the African literary revolution with the Doek organization at the fore. They started with the literary journal Doekwhich introduced many new names from Namibia. They followed it up with with a new literary award scheme for writers called the Doek Literary Awards which introduced new names to the African literary community.
The good people from Doek have today announced the Doek Literary Festival, a new initiative that seeks to “nurture and grow the country’s reading and writing culture while providing a creative and immersive space for encountering the works of Namibian and other prominent African writers. It will also provide a unique learning and creative exchange opportunities through workshops, readings, panel discussions, and musical performances.”
The festival organisers will be announcing the featured writers and program in the coming weeks.
