The Old Lion of Africa, the autobiography of Dr Walter Nyamori Masiga, was published on November 7, 2019. It is currently available at all good bookstores.
One of the most vibrant aspects of Kenyan writing has to be the production of the autobiographies as those who have lived longer share their experiences with those who are younger. Dr Walter Nyamori Masiga has followed in the footsteps of his colleagues as he opted to pen his life experiences. Dr Masiga is one of East Africa’s pioneer veterinary researchers, former chairman of AFC Leopards football club, and a distinguished and decorated scientist.
The autobiography which the good doctor wrote was compiled by Julie Masiga and has the following information on the back cover;
Dr Walter Nyamori Masiga’s inspiring autobiography recounts his life as an accomplished Kenyan who did a lot, consciously or otherwise, for a country that did not exist at his birth. As part of the pioneer African veterinarians in Kenya, he was part of groundbreaking research that put the country on the map. As if blessed with the touch of Midas, he was also deeply involved in the initial framework of the AFC leopards creating the foundation for the rich football culture present today – and all this while being a loving partner to his wife Elizabeth Semo Masiga who, accomplished in her own right, rose to Chief Inspector of Schools and a Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education.
His autobiography is available at Prestige Books, Bookstop Yaya Centre, and online at Rafu Books.
