Enkare Review opens submissions for its next edition on Thursday June 1, 2017.
Enkare Review came to the African literary scene with a bang. The literary publication coming out Nairobi shocked the bejesus out of everyone when they unveiled their first major contributor. That gentleman was Junot Diaz, he of the New York Time Best Seller and Pulitzer winning fame. Since that triumph the youngster then went onto great heights with contributions from people like Leila Aboulela, Stanley Onjezani Kenani, Nnedi Okorafor, Namwali Serpell, Zukiswa Wanner, Maaza Mengiste, Beverley Nambozo Nsengiyunva, Kọ́lá Túbọ̀sún, Taiye Selasi, and Tendai Huchu. Basically, the writers featured were some of the most recognisable names in African literature today; with prize winners and best sellers a plenty.
While we were still recovering from their weekly salvos of epic content, the team at Enkare Review unveiled their debut issue featuring outstanding poetry and prose from all over the continent. Here is the list of stories from our friends starting the editorial explaining how they started and where they are now. The full list of contributions is:

- Yellow and a Funeral by Wairimũ Mũrĩithi

It is a very brave debut of names that are unfamiliar to many followers of the African literacy scene today which proves that they are about finding the next generation of superstars. It will be remembered for many things including that interview with The New Yorker editor David Remnick.
The people at Enkare Review aren’t done with us just yet. With their initial publication having been done and dusted, they are already working on edition two. They will be opening submissions of this one on June 1st and closing on August 2017. For full details on submission requirements please click here.
Good luck.
