Etisalat Prize 2015 tour: The Etisalat Prize for Literature 2015 is set to hold a series of literary events in Nairobi from Wednesday, June 15th – Saturday, June 18th 2016. The event will be aimed at celebrating the shortlisted writers and winner of the 2015 Etisalat Prize for Literature.
The Etisalat Prize for Literature is the first ever pan-African prize to applaud first time writers of published fiction. The winner of the Etisalat Prize for Literature receives £15,000, a high end device and will attend the Etisalat Fellowship at the prestigious University of East Anglia. Etisalat also purchases 1000 copies of all shortlisted books which are donated to various schools, book clubs and libraries across the African continent.
Previous winners of the award include Noviolet Bulawayo for We Need New Names (2013) and Songeziwe Mahlangu for Penumbra (2015). This past year was won by Fiston Mwanza Mujila for his novel Tram 83
The literary programming in Nairobi, which is part of their three city tour, will include a public panel discussion with Prize winner and Congolese poet and writer, Fiston Mwanza Mujila (Tram 83) plus shortlisted South African authors Penny Busetto (The Story of Anna P, as Told by Herself) and Rehana Rossouw (What Will People Say?)
The authors shall also visit Daystar University and University of Nairobi as well as hold evenings of conversations and readings at Goethe-Institut Nairobi and PAWA254. The full program looks quite cool and will be free for all who want to take part. It will be;
