Fare thee well Dr Ali Mazrui

Dr Ali Mazrui is dead. The good doctor who had been unwell died in the US earlier today and shall be flown back home to be buried in his beloved continent.
Daktari who was born in Mombasa, Kenya was an academic, professor, and political writer on African and Islamic studies and North-South relations. He was a very important thinker on Africa and its place in the world. His series of groundbreaking documentaries “The Africans,” filmed in the 1970s, explained why the continent is how it is.
