Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty 2024 runs in Paraty, Brazil from October 9 – 13, 2024.
The Festa Literária Internacional de Paraty (International Literary Festival of Paraty – FLIP) is a literary festival held annually in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil since 2003. It was founded by Bloomsbury Publishing co-founder Liz Calder, who lived in Brazil and was a literary agent to several Brazilian authors, using the Hay Festival in the United Kingdom as a model. In addition to lectures, discussions, and literary workshops, events for children and young people are also held.
The 2024 edition readings of poetry and prose, panels, conversations, and loads more are dedicated to João do Rio one of the most important authors of the early 20th century in Rio de Janeiro. The Brazilian author and journalist of African descent was elected on May 7, 1910, for chair #26 of the Brazilian Academy of Letters.
Some of the scheduled guests include Mohamed Mbougar Sarr, Jefferson Tenório, Édouard Louis, Eliana Alves Cruz, Léonora Miano, Robert Jones, Jr., Evandro Cruz Silva, Luiz Antonio Simas, among others. The full list of authors can be found here.
