Festival Buku Kinshasa 2024 will run for the second time and will be hosted in Kinshasa, DR Congo from June 28 – 30, 2024. The dates were moved from 7 – 9.
Festival Buku Kinshasa was initiated by Congolese publishers, distributors, and booksellers with the support of numerous associations passionate about literature, and hosted in the biggest city in DR Congo in 2021.
The fair’s second edition will have panels, roundtables, readings, and loads more at l’Académie des Beaux-arts de Kinshasa in June. Some of the participants this year will be Richard Ali, Edimo Moise, Christian Gombo, Destin Waragi, Jared Modua, Jean-Marie Mbowa, Jephté Mbangala, Sheva, Pat Le Gourou, Arthur Omar Kayumba, Louidel Lebou, Michel Muvudi, Ben Kamanda, Mweya Tol’Ande, Emilie Mayabu, Eugénie Mpongo, Bertin Makolo, Luc Pami, Marc Kanyinda, Baby Mapanga, Joyeux Ngoma, Bonheur Mutumba, John Elongo, Tracey Kalanga, Hervey Ngoma, Chris Kioka, Archip Mukoko, Tata N’longi Biatitudes, Ben Kamanda, Dibakana Mankessi, Godefroy Mwanabwato, and many others.
One of the highlights will be the announcement of Prix Litteraire Patrice Emery Lumumba’s winner, named after one of DR Congo’s greatest sons. The award is for a manuscript of either a novel or a short story collection that reflects the heritage ideological and political of Patrice-Emery Lumumba. These are Pan-Africanism and the unity of the black continent, the right of peoples to self-determination, the Promotion of African traditions Freedom Human rights, and the development of Africa.
