Fidèle Goulyziazia, Patrick Mbonguila Mukinzitsi, and Annie-Flore Assenguet Yogoulou Joly won at the Festival International Du Livre Gabonais et Des Arts 2025 in Libreville, Gabon, on May 31, 2025.
Festival international du livre Gabonais et des arts (English: Gabonese International Festival of Books and the Arts), popularly known as FILIGA, was first held in 2022. It is an initiative of the members of the Union of Gabonese Writers (UDEG) led by Rosny Le Sage Souaga, to celebrate culture and position books and the arts as intellectual emancipation products for young people.
For 2025, the fair which is running for the fourth consecutive year, there were panel discussions, artists, slam poets, theatrical readings, workshops, and masterclasses at the National Museum of Rites and Arts of Gabon from May 29 – 31, 2025. Some showcases allowed visitors to discover new works and rare books, and support local literary production. This year’s special guest country was Cameroon.
The closing ceremony included an announcement of the winners of literary awards, which were;
Prix Filiga Du Livre Africain
- Malo-Woussou, Fidèle Goulyziazia (Cote d’Ivoire)
Goulyzia’s novel, which also won at Salon International du Livre d’Abidjan, explores the post-war period and the presence of peacekeeping forces in zones of military or civil conflict. The story takes place in three African countries: Côte d’Ivoire, Chad, and Libya. A Chadian police officer with the United Nations Operation in Côte d’Ivoire is caught up with his past, forty years later. Two children, he was unaware of the existence of resurface to disrupt his old age: a daughter, born from an affair with a minor at the time of the events in Côte d’Ivoire, and a son, returned from his adventure in Libya.
