Lambda Literary Awards

Finalists for US’ Lambda Awards 2022 announced

The finalists for the Lambda Awards 2022 were announced on Tuesday, March 15, 2022. Here are the writers of African descent who made the cut.

The Lambda Literary Awards, or the “Lammys,” as they are known, are an award of Lambda Literary, the oldest and largest literary arts organization advancing Lesbian, Gay, Trans, and Queer (LGBTQ) literature in the United States. Some previous winners include Chike Frankie Edozien, Nicole Dennis-Benn, Kacen Callender, Aricka Foreman, and Chinelo Okparanta.

The finalists for the awards have been announced across 24 categories encompassing the whole spectrum of queer literature.

“We are particularly inspired by such amazing numbers in the LGBTQ Young Adult and Children’s/Middle Grade categories,” the Awards Manager says. “The modern movement to ban access to LGBTQ books for young people is horrendous, but we hope the publishing industry continues backing these remarkable works in volume to meet that resistance.”
