Fiyah, Libretto, and Lolwe are three literary magazines by African/Black publishers currently available for your reading pleasure.
A literary magazine is a periodical that publishes short stories, poetry, and essays, along with literary criticism, book reviews, as well as biographical profiles of authors, interviews, and letters. The beauty of this format is that one gets to read wonderful voices, many new, in a digestible form, and know who to Stan in the now and in the future. Here are three journals that you want to check out that have come out in the recent past.

Fiyah: A Magazine of Speculative Black Fiction.
Recent Issue: April 1, 2020.
Fiyah is a quarterly speculative fiction magazine that features stories by and about Black people of the African Diaspora based in the USA founded in 2016. The current issue #14 has contributions of fiction by Tobi Ogundiran, Errick Nunnally, Veronica Henry, LP Kindred as well as poetry by Woody Dismukes and Jacqui Swift among others. They are still open for submissions until June 30 for their #15 issue if you are interested.

Libretto
Recent Issue: June 20, 2020.
Libretto is a publishing company, bookstore and an online magazine of arts and publishing that aims to publish the works of new/emerged and established writers and artists. Their current issue which is its third one launched on Saturday, June 20 and has poetry, prose, nonfiction, photography, and more under the theme “Reflections.” The magazine has short stories by Nwabuisi Kenneth and Mark Blickley, poetry by Oluwatobi Ezekiel Poroye, Abdulbaki Ahmad, Ihezue Somto Onyedike, Osahon Oka, Adeyeye James Oluwatobi, Obinna Chilekezi and Animashaun Ameen.

Lolwe

Lolwe is an online magazine that publishes fiction, literary criticism, personal essays, photography, and poetry founded by Troy Onyango in 2020. The first edition guest edited by JK Anowe, I.S. Jones and Moso Sematlane has fiction by Ifeanyi Ekpunobi, Sibongile Fisher, Moje Ikpeme, Michelle Enehiwealu Iruobe, and Elikem Enyo Annan. It also contains poetry from Honora Ankong, Chisom Okafor, A. Martine, Sihle Ntuli, Precious Arinze, Cheswayo Mphanza as well as essays by Alain Jules Hirwa, Moshood, Iyanuoluwa Adenle, Som Adedayor. It comes highly recommended with Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor, Maaza Mengiste, Sulaiman Addonia, Dami Ajayi, and others praising the new publication.
