The Gaborone Book Festival 2020 which happens annually in Botswana’s capital runs from September 17-19, 2020.
In 2018, the Gaborone Book Festival, a new literary festival founded by Keikantse Phele and Kenanao Phele, happened in the Southern African country of Botswana. It was aimed at fostering a love for reading among Batswana and residents of Botswana. Featuring that year were Niq Mhlongo, Zukiswa Wanner, Lauri Kubuitsile, Michael Dingake, Andrew Sesinyi, Ednah Rosen, Modirwa Kekwaletswe, Donald Molosi, Brigitta Zwani, Tomeletso Sereetsi, Thalefang Charles, Monirul Bhuiyan, Nelson Letshwene, Kgomotso Jongman, and Bongani Malunga.
In 2019, the festival ran again and it was another bonanza of literary joy in Southern Africa. It was even bigger and better with featured writers and poets like TJ Dema, Brilliant Kodie, Rachel Nekati, Donald Molosi, Bonty Botumile, Sam Chapi, Onica Lenkutwane, Bakang Baloi, Lauri Kubuitsile, Nelson Letswene, and Abigail Mwikisa. Guest authors from across the continent were Prof Pumla Dineo Qqola, Nanjala Nyabola, Odafe Atogun, Lerato Mogoatlhe, Rosie Motene, PJ Mofokeng, and Siya Khumalo.
The 2020 edition of the festival is nearly upon us and the organisers promise good things for lovers of the written word. Some of the writers, poets, and other publishing professionals you will be interacting with will be Helon Habila, Kane Motswana, Thalefang Charles, Outlwile Tsipane, Nandi Manentsa, Dikatso Selemogwe, Thabo Katiholo, Lorraine Sithole, Gaongalelwe Tiro, Shubnum Khan, Itumeleng Garebatshabe, Ompelege Cathiwe Moreosele, and Botho Lejowa.
