The guests for the Hargeysa International Book Fair 2024 to be hosted in Somaliland from July 20 – 25, 2024 are now known.
The Hargeysa International Book Fair, first hosted in Hargeisa, Somaliland in 2008, has grown to become the biggest literary extravaganza in the Horn of Africa and one of the biggest on the continent. It has hosted some of the leading writers, journalists, academics, publishers, artists, and other professionals from dozens of nations in Africa and further afield.
The 2024 partner country will be Tunisia and the theme is “Togetherness.” Over the five days, there will be 123 speakers, 35 panels (26 Hargeysa and 6 Gailey and 3 children’s sessions, 24 Books (Somali new books), 22 performance artists, 16 paint artists, 10 diplomats, 1 circus and 1 Chess and Shax competition.
The guests of honour are Dr Saad Ali Shire and Shukri Ismail Bandare and the Tunisian delegates are Fires Khelifi, Jamel Ben Saidan, Dhafer Bin Khalifa, and Leila Ben-Gacem. The guests who include writers, scholars, artists, and other professionals are Dr. Emmanuel Osuteye, Dr. Abdirahman Gaas, Sihaam Mumin, Khalid Abshir, Abdalghani Aid Elmi, Moustafa Ahmad, Abdirahman Yusuf Arten, Muna Ahmed, Roble Muse, Marwaad Keyse, Dr. Amal Ali, Salma Abdirahman Sh. Mohamed, Dr. Abdihakeem Saed Bustaale, Bilal Mustafe, Suad Ibrahim, Sadia Muse, Huda Bashier, Yousuf Labojohar, Cadnaan Qabyotire, Sidiiq Burmad, Yaasiin Maddaale, Naciima Xaji Maxamed, Abdirahman Haldhis, Yusuf Abdi Jiheeye, Abdirizak Xasiliye, Qaryaan Zeko, Sakariye Yasin Mohamed, Dalmar Cilmi Caalin, Farah Mohamed Siciid, Hana Abdi Mohamed, and many others.
