Hubert Haddad wins Prix Littéraire Montluc Résistance et Liberté 2025

Hubert Haddad’s novel La Symphonie Atlantique won Prix Littéraire Montluc Résistance et Liberté 2025 in Lyon, France on Tuesday, April 8, 2025.

Prix Montluc Resistance et Liberté (English: Montluc Resistance and Freedom Prize) is awarded to an author, whether French or foreign, whose work questions current methods of fighting against oppression in all its manifestations, or whose work represents in itself an act of resistance. Some of the previous winners of the award founded by Jean-François Carenco have been Itamar Vieira Junior, Jean d’Amérique, and Kaouther Adimi.

The longlist for the 2025 edition was announced on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, before the finalists were announced on Tuesday, January 21. The winner was declared to be La Symphonie Atlantique the story of young Clemens, from the German bourgeoisie, who is on the brink of ruin under the Nazi yoke written by Hubert Haddad published by Editions Zulma.

A special mention went to Ananda Devi La Nuit s’ajoute à la Nuit. which tells the story of the writer’s stay in the former Lyon prison, in an attempt to grasp and understand the ghosts of the past.
