The Namibian Book Fair 2015 was a hive of activity at both the Polytechnic of Namibia and Franco Namibian Cultural Centre from 28 September – 2 October.

The events in Windhoek were organised by the team led by Ambassador Tonata Itenge-Emvula the patron of the fair as well as its founder Helvi Wheeler. Also doing a sterling job bringing everything together were Luise Mwanyangapo and Agnes Nyirenda doing marketing, Pulina Malulu on public relations, Mwalungama Amalia Nangolo as the able administrator and Nashilongo Amutenya editing the fair materials. If you consider that these individuals all worked gratis to bring the Namibian literary tradition forward then I can only celebrate them. Thank you ladies.

The event was opened by none other than Prime Minister Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila who was accompanied by US Ambassador to Namibia Thomas F Daughton. Also at the opening day were many others including academics and book lovers.

The best thing about this fair is that it wisely followed the children to ensure that we have the next generation of readers. They were taken through their paces as they made their own books, took part in storytelling and poetry events and generally had a great time.

Here are a few images from the fair courtesy of the kind organisers of the Nambian Book Fair 2015.
