The first-ever Nanyuki Book Festival will be hosted by the bookshop and library Books & Bloom in the Central Kenya town from October 10 – 11, 2025.
Books & Bloom is a bookshop and library dedicated to fostering a love for reading and supporting mental wellness, founded by Rose Akoth in 2025. It provides a space where visitors can relax, read, enjoy mindful colouring, or play board games, as well as a book club for adults (free) and kids (paid). Its library membership provides access to a curated selection of books, creating a community that thrives on creativity, relaxation, and connection.
Books and Bloom has announced that they will host the new Nanyuki Book Festival to celebrate literacy, culture, and community at Braeburn Nanyuki International School from October 10 – 11. It will bring together authors, publishers, booksellers, educators, and readers from across Kenya and beyond, creating a vibrant space to celebrate the written word, inspire young readers, and promote a culture of literacy.
Some of the highlights will be the Books & Bloom Bookshop Pavilion; a family friendly Kid’s Corner with story tents, games, and crafts; The Imaginarium with VR, tech innovation, and interactive learning; author signings, talks, and workshops; performances of poetry, music, storytelling, crafts, culture; The Healing Chapter – mindfulness, mental health, and wellbeing; Food, art, stationery, and creative vendors, and an award ceremony for competition winners and exhibitors
Some of the authors who will be featured are Peter Kimani, Euniah Mbabazi, and Anne Miltenburg, with more to be confirmed.
