Jalada Africa to launch Languages Anthology

Jalada Africa will launch their Languages Anthology, their fourth, this Saturday at the Creatives Garage, off Ngong Road, Nairobi on Saturday, November 14th, 2015.

We all know about the collective of writers from all over the continent who changed the way some of us looked at writing in the same way that the Wu-Tang Clan did for the rap game.

Since they emerged from the shadows two years ago they have already done three theme-based anthologies namely The Sketch of a bald woman in the semi-nude and other stories (my review) dealing with insanity, Sext Me poems and stories (my review)which billed itself as erotica and Afrofutures which was their future looking one.

Their latest anthology which came out online recently was the language issue and there have been very good noises made about it. It thus makes sense to do a physical launch and it looks to become a very big deal.

The launch will include a panel discussion on Languages and Translation including Lutivini Manjanja, Oduor Oduku, and Sitawa Namwalie who will read from their stories in the Languages Issue.

Also lined up for the 2 pm -5 pm event is a Jalada special – Sext Me Performance by Aleya Kassam.

If you live in Nairobi, claim to be a reader, and fail to show up you need to be arrested. Seriously.
