Jo Alkemade’s Belonging in Africa book is now out (the Anti-White Masai)

You know about those books about some white woman who comes to Africa and falls in love with a savage African and moves to his village that we all hate so much? The poster child for these hateful books is White Masai where some Scandinavian woman comes to Kenya and marries a Samburu man, yes not Maasai but Samburu. She then parleys it into a bestselling book and movie and… and… and… a video game?

There is a new book with similar themes from one of our favourite editorial agencies Lesleigh Inc called Belonging In Africa. The book is a memoir of US-based Jo Alkemade and her experience in Kenya in the late 1970s and early 1980s. In her book, she describes her experience of falling in love with a Ugandan man in Kenya as a teenager and the attendant drama.
