Kakamega Book Festival 2023 for July 29

The Kakamega Book Festival 2023, the second edition in its history, will happen in the Western Kenyan town on Saturday, July 29, 2023.

In 2022, the Kakamega Book Club hosted the inaugural Kakamega Book Festival at the Wanda Gardens in Kakamega. With book discussions, poetry recitals, and loads more at the first major book festival in the town in Western Kenya a great time was had by those who attended. The team behind the festival has announced that there will be a reprisal of the activities in Kakamega County at the end of the month. There will be a series of events that include a health walk, a book reading tent, book exhibitions, a spelling bee, poetry performances, panel discussions, storytelling sessions around a bonfire, a keynote they call a “Pep Talk” and showtime that includes comedy, songs, and dance. There will also be the monthly book session of the Kakamega Book Club which this year centres around the book Kipendacho Roho by Pauline Kea.

This year, the charges for taking part are Kshs100 per child, Kshs200 per adult, and organisations are charged Kshs2,000 each. You can register by calling or sending a WhatsApp message to 0723616442. If this is your cup of tea, wink wink, and you are in the Western Region of Kenya, then make your way to Wanda Gardens on Ejinja Corner along Kakamega – Mumias Highway starting at 8 am until 10 pm.
