Kano International Poetry Festival 2024 starts July 11

The Kano International Poetry Festival 2024, which will be the inaugural edition, runs at the Bayero University, Kano, Nigeria from July 11 – 13, 2024.

Poetic Wednesdays is a youth-oriented non-governmental, non-political, and non-partisan entity aimed at promoting literature and literary activities in Northern Nigeria. The Salim Yunusa-founded organisation has hosted events bringing poets together in the city of Kano since 2016.

The first edition of the Kano International Poetry Festival will be hosted by the team in the northern Nigerian city starting tomorrow. Those who attend will be treated to panels, poetry readings, and other activities both physically and virtually. Additionally, the festival will serve as an avenue for hosting young authors, poets, and literary creators to showcase their works and share their experiences with the participants.

On the guest list will be Su’eddie Agema, Saddiq Dzukogi, Bash Amuneni, Habiba Malumfashi, Richard Ali, Umar Abubakar Sidi, Sa’id Sa’id, Abdulbasit Adamu, Carl Terver, A’isha Sani Lawan, Ali Mamman Lawan, Sulaiman Mai Bazazzagiya, Zaynab Iliyasu Bobi, Shittu Fowora, Najeeb G. Abdulhamid, Umar Saleh Gwani, among many others.
