Mombasa Regional Bookfair 2024

Kenya Publishers Association’s Mombasa regional fair kicks off on May 29

Kenya Publishers Association’s regional fair will be hosted in Mombasa from May 29 – June 1, 2024. This will be followed by the 25th edition of the Nairobi International Book Fair.

The Kenya Publishers Association has hosted publishing professionals, authors, booksellers, print suppliers, media, and readers from Africa and around the world at its annual Nairobi International Book Fair. A few years ago, they introduced regional fairs where towns and cities around the country got a chance to get a bit of the magic of the big fair in the capital. The fair has been hosted in towns like Machakos, Eldoret, Kisumu, and Nakuru.

The association has announced that the 2024 regional book fair will be hosted in the coastal city of Mombasa starting on May 29 through to June 1. As in previous years, we expect a merchants’ paradise where audiences will get an opportunity to buy books from publishing association members. Usually, this is an opportunity to buy hard-to-find books at unbelievably reasonable prices (as they are being sold directly without the distributor middlemen). At this moment, there is no information on engagement between authors and readers but we live in hope. We shall share information on the program when it becomes available.

In other news, the association has also shared that the national fair, Nairobi International Book Fair 2014 will be celebrating its silver jubilee from September 25 – 29. This a huge deal as very few large literary publishing events have been hosted over two and a half decades at this level. We shall be sharing more information on this fair when it has become available as well.
