The Jomo Kenyatta Prize for Literature is the brainchild of the Kenya Publishers Association. It was established in the early 1970s and is open to Kenyan writers whose work is published in Kenya. It is awarded every two years with Henry Ole Kulet winning in the English category for his epic book Vanishing Herds (my review) published by Longhorn Publishers.
This year KPA will be awarding the Jomo Kenyatta Prize for literature at the 18th Nairobi International Bookfair in September 2015. The Secretariat is currently accepting entries for the following different categories.
a) Adult Fiction- Kiswahili and English
b) Youth Fiction- Kiswahili and English
c) Children’s Fiction- Kiswahili and English
As exclusively reported on this blog the organisers will be increasing the prize money quite a bit for this year’s edition. Thus you need to be keen on the deadline for submission which will be on 31st March, 2015.
