Kweli International Literary Festival 2024

Kweli International Literary Festival 2024 starts July 13

The Kweli International Literary Festival 2024 runs in New York City, USA from July 13 until September 13, 2024.

Kweli was founded under the direction of editor Laura Pegram to nurture emerging US Black Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPOC) writers that “sing the truth” in 2009. It invests in the artistic and professional growth of emerging authors with a quarterly online literary journal, year-long writer fellowships, multi-session workshops, writing retreats, and individualized editing.

In 2012, they hosted the inaugural Kweli Literary Festival in East Harlem’s now-defunct La Casa Azul Bookstore with publishing industry insiders. Since then, they have presented an annual festival bringing together artists from across the creative spectrum.

For 2024, the plan is a hybrid festival with virtual and in-person readings and conversations with debut and award-winning BIPOC writers, master classes, craft talks, and much more, as well as opportunities to connect with agents, editors, and fellow creatives of colour at the in-person Festival Inaugural Weekend.
