The team at the Ba re e ne re Festival, Lesotho’s premier literary festival, announced the dates for the 2015 edition on Friday. The festival will be hosted from 5-6 December in Maseru, the capital of the mountain kingdom.
Ba re e ne re which means “they say it happened that…” in Basotho was the brainchild of Liepollo Rantekoa who launched the festival in 2011. The young Rantekoa passed on in the next year and her family and friends opted to continue the project that she started in her honour.
Since then, the festival has hosted some of the better-known names in African literature. Last year the festival hosted a plethora of heavy hitters like Yewande Omotoso, Zakes Mda, and Niq Mhlongo. These are all well-known writers in the Southern African literary scene.
Keep it with us for more information on the festival and its confirmed guests in the coming months. Knowing our friends from that part of our rock, it promises to be an epic festival.
