Library of Africa and the African Diaspora Black Atlantic Residency 2025 winners

The Library of Africa and the African Diaspora Black Atlantic Residency 2025 winners were announced in Accra, Ghana on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

The Library of Africa and the African Diaspora (LOATAD) is a private library, archive, writing residency, and museum dedicated to the work of African and Diaspora writers from the late 19th century to the present day. Founded by Sylvia Arthur in 2023, it is an important space for building the writing community in Ghana and the wider African continent.

The organisation regularly hosts residencies for writers who wish to spend time at the venue. The LOATAD Black Atlantic Residency aimed at breaking down barriers between writers from across the continent and the Diaspora and bringing them together around a common purpose and theme was unveiled in 2024. In January, they announced the recipients of the residency for the year.

The winners of the LOATAD Black Atlantic Residency 2025: African Solidarities supported by Hawthornden Foundation from across Africa and the Diaspora have been selected. They are;

  • Noor Salah Elfaki (Sudan)
  • Abdulrazaq Salihu (Nigeria)
  • Denoo Edinam Yawo aka Poetic Siren (Ghana)
