Johannesburg Review of Books

The Johannesburg Review of Books is an independent literary review that publishes reviews, essays, poetry, photographs, and short fiction from South Africa, Africa, and beyond.

Ubwali is a literary magazine that features prose, poetry, and nonfiction founded by Mubanga Kalimamukwento, Mbozi Haimbe, and Fiske Nyirongo in 2024.

The third edition features short stories by Muuka Gwaba, Mwenya Chikwa, Mwinji Siame, Joe Nyirenda, Lakish’a, and Mwila Agatha Zaza; an essay by Mwanabibi Sikamo; poetry by Isaac Kanyinji, Richard Phiri, Musonda Mukuka, Gideon Lukupwa, Sindwa Kanyimba, Luse Kabinda, Austin Kaluba, Natasha Devalia, and Caesar Eldridge Lungu; photography by Kalenga Nkonge, Victor Mwakapila and Chona Mwemba, and cover art Kalenga Nkonge.

Isele Magazine is a literary magazine, founded in 2020, that publishes fiction, poetry, essays, interviews, and book reviews.

Fiyah

Fiyah Magazine of Black Speculative Fiction is an American-based magazine of Black speculative fiction. Also referred to as FIYAH, the magazine was announced in September 2016, inspired among others by the 1920s experimental periodical FIRE! created by Wallace Thurman.

Issue 32 with the theme “Spacefaring Aunties” has contributions from among others Tatiana Obey, K.W. Onley, C. M. Lockhart, Conrad Loyer, Ezekiel Springer, Verdi’s Beam, Zaynab Iliyasu Bobi, and Kat Garcia.
